LETTER- Where's the fire in water world?

It seems that officials have been remiss in rejecting the dredging option for the Rivanna Reservoir on the basis of only one cost estimate ["Dredging 101: New estimate at $25-30 million," May 8]. My concern is that consumers, already facing a big rate increase to fund sewage treatment improvements, are about to be billed for much more water storage than is currently needed.

Doesn't it make more sense to wait two or three decades to build the big complicated system when the need exists and there are more water users to share the cost?
