Chris Johnson claims he was treated unfairly by UVA football Coach Al Groh, and he's joining two other players heading to Grambling State University, according to Jerry Miller in the Progress. The Hook has been granted a hearing on its motion to open the gag on records and proceedings of the two Albemarle County youths convicted in juvenile court of conspiring to blow up schools and kill classmates. The newspaper's motion was filed earlier this week and will be heard by Judge Paul Peatross on June 27. All parties to the case have been notified and agreed to the timing. read full story

A Shenandoah Valley man allegedly travelling 150 miles per hour on his motorcycle Saturday night around midnight died early Sunday at UVA medical center, according to a report in the Staunton News Leader. Greenville resident Gary A. Agee, 20, was speeding along Lee Jackson Highway (U.S Highway 11) and approaching state route 262 when he lost control and was ejected a "great distance," according to the News Leader's paraphrase of Virginia State Police Sgt. The Jefferson Theater, which has been serving up cheap movies since at least the 1970s, is going out of business for at least a year while it undergoes renovation by its new owner, music mogul Coran Capshaw. That may have been the question on Monday, as a small plane leaving Philadelphia and bound for Charlottesville entered restricted Washington airspace. According to a Reuters report, two F-16 fighter jets surrounded the Cessna 182 and escorted it to a Maryland airport. Governor Tim Kaine had said that he would sign legislation outlining plans for rail options on the Interstate 81 corridor into law– and he has finally made good on that promise.
