Dave Matthews hit by a bus? Yup. But don't worry, it's just for his role on the Fox medi-drama House, which airs tonight on the Fox network.
Albemarle's resident rock star plays Patrick, a piano savant who was struck by a bus at age 10. In addition to a brain injury, he was suddenly able to play classical piano flawlessly even though he'd never taken lessons.

A rush-hour pedestrian accident in midtown sent a man to the hospital this morning. The incident appears to have occurred around 8am when a bronze Chevy Tahoe struck the man as the eastbound vehicle was making a right turn from University Avenue to Jefferson Park Avenue.

In Saturday's paper, Daily Progress reporter Bob Gibson reveals the emergence of an eighth candidate in the running to replace Judge Paul Peatross on the Albemarle Circuit Court bench.
A legislative source declined to identify the secret candidate, Gibson reports, other than to say the wannabe judge is a lawyer who practices in Richmond and lives in Goochland County.

Multi-car pileup closes I-64 on Afton Mountain

A week ago, a spilt milk truck had Route 250 closed on Afton Mountain. This afternoon, I-64 is closed because of a multi-vehicle wreck, and traffic is being diverted on to Route 250. According to VDOT at 4:40pm, traffic is backed up two miles each way from at exit 107 on the east side and exit 96 on the west side.

UVA’s ‘past life’ expert Stevenson dies

Ian Stevenson, the controversial UVA professor who studied children relating memories of past lives, died February 8 at Westminster-Canterbury at age 88 from pneumonia.
Stevenson compiled over 2,500 cases of children, mostly in India and Asia, who could allegedly recount details of previous lives that typically ended violently.
