Forest Lakes Farmers market opens

by Dave McNair

Forest Lakes folks soon won’t have to truck down to the Downtown Mall to get their local farm fresh goods…their own farmer’s market will debut tomorrow, June 3 from 4pm to 7pm. It’s a joint effort between the Piedmont Environmental Council and the Forest Lakes Homeowners Association. The market will operate every Tuesday thereafter.

“We commend the Forest Lakes HOA for taking the initiative to make this market happen,” writes Melissa Wiley, PEC Director of Special Projects, in a release this morning. “PEC is happy to help link local farmers and vendors with the HOA to make this a successful Market.”

Tomorrow’s opening will feature live music, and a magician and a face painter for kids. And, of course, the customary ribbon-cutting.

The market will be located in the South Recreational Facility parking area located at 1650 Ashwood Boulevard. Forest Lakes is on Route 29 approximately 6 miles north of Charlottesville.
