Two Fairway shooting victims released
Charlottesville police have just announced that two occupants of the white Dodge minivan involved in yesterday’s shooting on Fairway Avenue have been released from UVA Medical Center. The third victim, an unidentified male who suffered at least one gunshot wound, remains hospitalized in critical and guarded condition.
The circumstances surrounding the shooting remain unclear. Several local news organizations have reported the shots were fired from within the van; however, a witness interviewed yesterday by the Hook suggested there may have been another vehicle involved in the incident. According to the witness, who was on the street at the time of the shooting, a red car careered down Fairway at the same time as the white van when shots rang out. A third silver or gray car was being driven erratically at the same time, according to the witness, who believes the shots were fired from inside the red car. He did not see the occupants of any of the vehicles.
Yesterday at around 4:30pm, nearly two hours after the 2:45pm shooting, a Charlottesville police investigator pulled a silver wooden-handled revolver from a mulch pile in front of a Fairway Avenue house, about one block away from the crash site of the white van.
No arrests have been made in the case.
