CSN in C-ville (Y most likely elsewhere)
Pollstar is reporting at least one big punch at the tail end of the Charlottesville Pavilion’s summer concert season: folky classic rock legends Crosby, Stills, and Nash are scheduled to perform on July 31.
The group formed as a trio in the late 1960’s from leftover bits of the Byrds and Buffalo Springfield, and in 1969 they were indisputably pushed into “supergroup” territory after being joined by Neil Young, also a Springfield alum, for what would become a long-standing off-and-on relationship.
Through several decades of hits like “Southern Cross” and the Kent State ode “Ohio” the band has nebulously phased in and out due in part to Young’s sporadic presence, solo albums from each of the members, and the brief tenure of David Crosby and Graham Nash as a duo act.
This show will feature the original lineup, so it looks like we can expect their legendary vocal harmonies to be arranged for three parts instead of four.

I s’pose I could listen to Suite: Judy Blue Eyes one more time, but since CSN’s best material can be heard on the album Deja Vu, which benefits inestimably from the contributions of Y, it would obviously be best if Mr. Young could play with them in Charlottesville as well.
Young always brought a grunge-tinged edge to their sound, which without him sounds like the maudlin yearnings of three heart-broken pussies.
