Charlottesville Tomorrow reports that city council is not too keen on the idea of adding more fountains to the Downtown Mall. On February 11, council reviewed design concepts for the proposed $7.5 million renovation of the Mall that is scheduled to begin at the end of the year. One concept called for two interactive fountains on either end of the Mall.

You know I have seen too many of these fountains eventually have to be shut down, due to upkeep and electricity to run the pumps. Additionally although they can be pretty, totally not a “green” thing to do.

They are good piss basins for the drunks though.
