Albemarle County’s Board of Supervisors has new chair, and it’s Ken Boyd, the man who has been representing the Rivanna District since 2003. The move came today, County spokesperson Lee Catlin reports, as the Supes selected their new leadership in what is their first meeting of the new year.

Boyd, who served as vice chairman for the past two years, is a Republican who supports property rights, voted to join the regional economic partnership, wonders why schools cost so much, and admires Ronald Reagan. A former banker with Jefferson National (now Wachovia), he runs his own financial services firm.

The outgoing chair was Dennis Rooker, who had served in the top spot for last two-year term. The new vice chair is David Wyant.
