Reading the Census leaves

Okay, all you data junkies…the Census Bureau has released the first part of its
2005 community survey data
for the Charlottesville area, which includes Charlottesville, Albemarle, Greene, Fluvanna and Nelson. Like so many statistical tea leaves, the numbers reveal some interesting developments. For instance, the area is teaming with female divorcees, over 9,000 compared to 5,774 male divorcees. There are also more single women than men, 2000 more. Of a total population of 177,569, only 95,388 were born in Virginia. 2,122 new babies arrived last year. 12,724 of us speak a language other than English, mostly Spanish. And over 40,000 of us have moved here or moved back here since 2004. What does it all mean? You be the judge.
