Give Evie credit

I want to thank Lisa Provence for her article in the September 23 issue of The Hook, "Why Bother to Vote?"

I'm writing to make one important clarification. The Public Service Announcement (PSA) "comparing voting machines to ATMs or cell phones" was the project of Evie Safran, an individual citizen inspired to make her own contribution to the "get out the vote" effort. Although Evie had help from many people– including the VERM, Sheri Iachetta, and particularly Maurice Jones– the PSA was her idea.

It became a reality only because of her persistence. The finished project shows what one woman can do when she sets her mind to it.
