Think outside the brick

Christine Madrid French is my new hero. The postmodern Jeffersonizing of our town into a faux-Disney, pretend-historical-theme-park is not only revisionist, it's disrespectful to the legacy of Jefferson and his architectural talents. Wasn't it he who tried different styles and building methods on a routine basis?

If I never see another red brick, pillar, or an ice park or business school building made to appear as if it was built in the 1800s, I'll die happy. The Darden school looks like a giant cheap suit that's trying too hard to impress his interviewer.

For the love of God, I cannot understand why architectural review boards and developers cannot think outside the brick every once in a while. Build buildings that represent today's thinking– not your false understanding of the past.
