The elderly stay home

I was glad to see Jeanne McCusker get the exposure she deserves for her company, Home Instead, new to the Charlottesville area ["No place like it: Biz helps families cope," March 28].

Although the article mentioned Jeanne's background and why she made a career change, I was disappointed that the article did not mention why the company is called Home Instead and the concept behind it. This company keeps the elderly as independent as possible in their homes, instead of in a nursing facility.

I realize there may have been limitations space, but giving more information on the company would have been helpful for those not familiar with the company. The caregivers do far more than take a client to appointments and household tasks. Home Instead also offers the caregiver ongoing training for a year and beyond and also training in dealing with Alzheimer's clients.
