Botox makes losers

In reference to the article on Botox parties [Hook Ink, April 3: "Shooting up: Building biz at Botox parties"] (, it is very sad that people do not feel that they can gracefully grow older– a fact of life that no one can escape and therefore no one should be ashamed of.

Far worse, these folks may, at some future time, pay a severe price for their vanity: sagging muscles that have atrophied from lack of use. Botox has been embraced without regard to what its ultimate physical effect is likely to be in the long run upon those paralyzed facial muscles.

Muscles are meant to be used, so people really should not try to fool Mother Nature. She usually wins in the end.
