University of Virginia students and Charlottesville residents came out en masse Thursday, February 6, to donate clothing in the name of the little deity of love. All garments collected at the "Clothes from Cupid" drive were earmarked for the Salvation Army.
Bags and boxes of clothing were piling up when I arrived, and donors were treated to goodies, music provided by Kiss FM radio, and drawings for prizes. Tyedye Thom was on hand, too, selling his hemp jewelry and colorful clothing. While he wasn't an official part of the drive, he also donated some clothing items to the cause.
All in all, the event was a great success– even soon-to-be-snowy skies and blowing winds couldn't deter the charitable spirits of those who braved the elements to make their donations. Wahoowa!
