How have the recent rapes altered your habits?

Julia Bninski: "They haven't really. I am usually pretty careful. I don't take unusual risks, but I don't let the fear of an unlikely event stop me from doing something I want to do."

Cathy Hilliard: "I don't like to go out after dark as much. I am a lot more aware of my surroundings. I never thought things like that would happen here in Charlottesville. My friends and I are a lot more protective of each other now."

Julie Vaughan: "My habits haven't really changed all that much. I'm alert when I am alone at night, but I'm not really afraid to be alone at night. I don't live in the fear that something bad is going to happen to me, so I'm probably going to end up learning the hard way."
