Voters go national
Despite the "all politics is local" hoopla, Charlottesville voters seem less fascinated by local elections than those involving big national names– if figures from the City registrar are any indication.
Charlottesville votes cast in last three general elections
November, 2000: 13,483 (72% of registered voters)
(when the presidential race topped the ballots)
May, 2001: 4,375 (22% of registered voters)
(when City Council races topped the ballots)
November, 2001: 9,375 (48% of registered voters)
(when the gubernatorial race topped the ballots)
