BLIND DATE CHALLENGE- At last: John & Chloe

Chloe is 29 years old, 5'6", with blondish hair, blue eyes, and (in her words, Matchmaker swears) "bodacious boobs."  She works in sales and has a bachelor's degree in communication. Chloe stays busy cooking, and decorating, and running (hopefully with a strong sportsbra), while her "hilarious" sense of humor makes her stand out. A left-winger who isn't too religious, she considers her favorite book is The Giving Tree by Shel Silverstein, and if she had a superpower, it would be to be like Samantha from Bewitched because "she makes things happen."  Chloe enjoys that Charlottesville "is a small city packed with culture," and her favorite place to hang out is Shenandoah Joe's. Chloe is looking for a guy in his 30s with whom she's compatible... oh, and he can't be "wimpy looking."

John is 28 years old and not wimpy-sized– 6'1" with an athletic build.  He's a high school teacher with a master's degree from UVA. He likes renovating his house, happy hours with friends, exercising, and cooking.  John is "cafeteria Catholic," politically moderate, and claims he's a gifted storyteller who once saved his family's life. His favorite book is The Time Traveler's Wife by Audrey Niffenegger, and if he had a superpower it would be "Zack Morris' time-out ability." He loves Charlottesville's proximity to cities and mountains, and he often finds himself hanging out at South Street.  John is looking for someone who is pretty, fit, motivated, and "bonus points for off-color jokes."

John and Chloe meet at Bel Rio...

What did you do to get ready for the date?

Chloe:  Changed out of my boring work clothes.

John: Went to the gym and got my swole on.

How long did that take to get ready?

John:  Including the gym? Two hours. The shower/dressing part took 10 minutes.

Chloe: 45 minutes.

Did you get there first?  What did you do while waiting?

Chloe: Yes. I checked emails on my crackberry and ordered a PBR.

John: Nope. I kept it classy and rolled in five minutes late. Real smooth.

Were you nervous?

John: Pleasantly nervous.

Chloe: Nope.

What was your first impression of your date?

Chloe: I lucked out!

John: Cute and friendly.

What was he/she wearing?

John: Clothes.

Chloe: Jeans and a button down shirt.

Was he/she your type?

Chloe: Spot on.

John: She smiled at me and laughed at my jokes, so... yes.

Did you like their style?

John:  I did.

Chloe:  Absolutely, he was relaxed and confident.

Did you order drinks?

Chloe:  I had two PBRs, he's a non-drinker, but that wasn't a problem or uncomfortable.

John: I stuck to club soda. I figure the more she has, the more charming I seem.

What did you talk about?

John: Just about everything: jobs, college, friends, exes, parents, politics, and religion. Seriously.

Chloe:  What didn't we talk about? We decided since we had nothing to lose, we would talk about the taboo topics you are not suppose to touch on a first date. Politics & religion, but they didn't dominate the entire date at all.

How did the conversation flow?

Chloe:  Never a dull moment.

John: Very well. We both found it kind of liberating to admit that we were on a blind date and should just get comfortable with it. Discussing the impending newspaper article amused us both to no end.

What did you find most interesting about your date?

John:  She's training for the Charlottesville 10 Miler, and she has a 40-year-old ex-boyfriend.

Chloe:  He is an identical twin and his love for his students.

Anything you didn't like about your date?

Chloe: Can't think of anything.

John: Not a thing.

What did you all have in common?

Chloe:  Lots! We both watch some of the same trashy TV shows (Jersey Shore, Intervention, Millionaire Matchmaker), both like George Strait, and both live with a sibling.

John: We love C'ville, can drive in the snow, and were gung-ho about the BDC.

Did you feel any chemistry?

John: Sure.

Chloe:  I'd like to think so.

What was your favorite part of the date?

Chloe:  The whole she-bang.

John: The conversation. We talked for at least two hours.

How did the date end?

Chloe:  He paid, and we exchanged digits.

John: This part was pretty awesome. I walked her to her car and we discussed that the BDC asks how the date ends and that we both thought that people shouldn't be able to get away with parting with a handshake. So, I suggested that we kiss goodnight and she threw a curveball and said that we should rock-paper-scissors for who had to make the move. It was pretty enlightened.

Kiss? or hug? or handshake?

John: A polite kiss followed up by another.

Chloe: I don't kiss and tell.

Would you go out again?

Chloe:  Totally.

John: Wouldn't you?

What actor/actress does your date remind you of?

John:  A blonde Jennifer Aniston.

Chloe: Jay Mohr with brown hair.

What would your theme song for the date be?

Chloe:  They played "Beast of Burden" twice.

John:  "Celebration" by Kool and the Gang.

Rate the Date: 1-10 10

John:  9.

Chloe:  9.

Finally the night ends with a kiss! Bonus points for boldness bring John back down to a negative wimp rating! Bodacious boobs win the day!  Maybe they'll keep us updated and Chloe will kiss and tell?  Either way a match well made.

I'm John's father and confirm that he saved the lives of me, his mother and his twin brother during a carbon monoxide poisoning incident two years ago.

I also confirm that he's bold.

I used to be John's neighbor, and I can confirm that he is swole. On many occasions, he helped me with brawny tasks such as moving furniture, putting a fridge in my laundry room and lifting a VERY heavy block of cement into a dumpster. This aside, I would like to add that his generosity and overall awesomeness are, for lack of a better term, swole, as well.

What can I say? This cracks me up! John is a wonderful neighbor and will go out of his way to help others. It's not cliche--he really does. By far, he and Joe are the best neighbors we've ever had and probably will have...only time will tell.

Oh, and he really does like kids--but not until they're about 4 months old!

Let's face it. I wear John pyjamas.
