RSWA injects lab bacteria into Ivy landfill

This morning at 10:00am the soil beneath the Ivy Landfill received its first injection of a laboratory created bacteria, referred to as "good" bacteria in a Rivanna Solid Waste Authority press release. Designed to purify the contaminated groundwater beneath the landfill, this "pollution-destroying" bacteria, a microbe stain patented by General Electric, will supposedly aid in the decay and eventual destruction of the deadly chemicals present in the groundwater around and beneath the landfill. Yikes, sounds like the beginning of a bad horror movie! For more information about the program call 434-977-2976 or visit the RSWA website at www.rivanna.org
