High winds ground Geraldine Ferraro

Geraldine Ferraro, slated to speak tonight at UVA, cannot attend due to high winds in New York. "Ms. Ferraro’s plane has been unable to leave the New York airport, and as a result she will not be in Charlottesville for her event tonight," reads a brief release from the the UVA Center for Politics, that think tank run by noted pundit Larry Sabato. "We apologize for any inconvenience this may cause." The Center says it will try to find a future date to reschedule the event.
Ferraro, the former Congressperson and Democratic running-mate to Walter Mondale, took a shot at becoming America's first female Vice President in 1984, but Republican Ronald Reagan was reelected that year.

Well, if she couldn't topple the Gipper, what made anyone think she could bring a plane through turbulent skies to Charlottesville?
