AG to launch gang prevention program

New Attorney General Robert McDonnell will be in town this Tuesday, March 28 to help the Boys and Girls Clubs of Charlottesville/Albemarle launch a program designed to keep area youths from joining gangs. As was reported on the Hook.net, gangs are alive and well in Charlottesville, even putting their monikers on the Downtown Mall’s free speech wall. McDonnell will be the keynote speaker at the event, which will take place at 6:00 pm at the Omni Hotel.

The program will be as successful as DARE and School Resource Officers.

The DARE program -- teaching young school students to shout out "NO!" to drugs in a school auditorium. Five years later they are on the street corner using and selling drugs.

School Resource Officers -- one in recent history was such a bad influence on the students, the parents were ready to lynch him from the nearest tree had he not been removed from the school very quickly. God only knows what the officer is doing now. Whatever this officer's new assignment is, I'm sure it doesn't involve people having Constitutional rights.

Wasn't another chool Resource Officer in recent history arrested for aggravated sexual assault or something on students? Somebody refresh my memory please. /Steve
