Grand jury indicts Beebe

Yesterday, a Charlottesville grand jury handed down two indictments against William N. Beebe, the former UVA student accused of raping classmate Liz Seccuro 22 years ago. A four-day trial is scheduled for Mr. Beebe beginning November 27 in Charlottesville Circuit Court.

As you may recall, the Hook broke this story in its January 12, 2006 cover story, "ââ?¬Ë?I Harmed You’: 21 years, 12 steps later, rape apology backfires", and has continued to follow its development ever since.

This is Krazy!

MOST people have awkward sexual encounters in their early college years.

Isn't it bad enough that the man had to leave college after this? And deliver Pizza?!

And this, over an encounter that Everybody regrets even took place in the first place.

Then, he TRIES to apologize to her. Cuz he thinks it's the right thing to do....
But instead of graciously accepting his apology--maybe even apologizing for her own part in the whole sordid debacle, she insists that he can only make things right by using the words that SHE prefers to discribe the event.

Incredibly, he appeases her.
Does this sound like the actions of a rapist? Sounds more like an upstanding citizen who deserves the Key to the City!
And what does she do? Turns around and uses his kindness against him---in a court of law--to try to ruin the poor guy's life.

PLUS she takes advantage of the fact that this incident occurred in a backward, uncivilized jurisdiction that hasn't joined the rest of the civilized world in recognizing that there is a reason why statutes of limitations exist---so that people don't have to constantly look over their shoulder to see if they are going to be imprisoned for something they might (or might not) have done OVER TWO DECADES AGO! WHEN THEY WERE YOUNG, DRUNK, AND IN COLLEGE.

If I were him, I'd say "FINE! I WITHDRAW MY APOLOGY! FURTHERMORE, I WISH I HAD BONED YOU IN THE BUTT! AND PEED ON YOU AFTERWARD."

NO physical evidence. No witnesses who can testify to her side of the story. Let's see them try to get a conviction without his apology! And when this case is over, HE ought to sue HER for harrassment.

That's all I have to say about that.
