Retro Montpelier unveiling set

On April 29, U.S. Senator John Warner and Congressman Eric Cantor will preside over the unveiling of the restored brick exterior of Montpelier, the historic home of the father of the Constitution, James Madison. The 2pm event will give the public a view of the historic Orange County mansion unseen since the days of Dolly and James in the 19th century because subsequent owners, particularly the DuPonts, added giant wings that have now been stripped away. The exterior unveiling marks the halfway point in what Montpelier officials, in a release, are calling the most important restoration in America. Most Central Virginians who attend the semi-annual steeplechase races there recall a pink stucco palace. Well, now it's red brick again.
