Studio 60 boss hails from Charlottesville
The character, Jordan McDeere, is the female head of the television network that creates and broadcasts the show within the show: "Studio 60," a comedy sketch program that resembles perennial NBC hit Saturday Night Live.
Created by Aaron Sorkin (who also produced The West Wing) and starring Friends veteran Matthew Perry, Studio 60 has become something of a hit for the Peacock-logoed network. It seems that while it has yet to crack the top-20, the show hauls in impressive demographics: i.e. educated richies, according to an early November NBC press release.
Jordan McDeere is played by Amanda Peet, who besides appearing in one episode of Seinfeld, has this claim to fame: in 2000, she was voted one of the 50 Most Beautiful People in the World by People magazine.
NBC has been kind enough to place this episode and others on its website for free viewing.
