First snow (up to 3″) expected Sunday
The Charlottesville area will get its first snowfall tomorrow morning, according to the Weather Underground, which is predicting one to three inches with a nearly 100 percent chance of snow.
Already, city crews have mobilized, according to City spokesman Ric Barrick, who says the City has "one of the most state-of-the-art monitoring stations."
Barrick says that because this has so far been an "uneventful winter," the City is sitting on nearly 1,200 tons of salt. The City, Barrick says, maintains its own fleet of vehicles with 24 snow plows with GPS guidance equipment to allow officials to monitor the progress of snow removal.
