Message to local writers: it’s never too late

When bibliophiles flock to Charlottesville next month for the Virginia Festival of the Book, author Lynn York will pause from her southern book tour to join in the festivities... and offer hope to Charlottesville's legions of older writers.

Although not ready for AARP, the North Carolina native, a veteran of the international telecommunications industry, will be part of "Late Bloomers: Women Novelists Over 40" at the New Dominion Bookshop on March 24.

Following-up to her debut novel, The Piano Teacher, the sequel, The Sweet Life, continues to explore life and love in a small southern town. Publishers Weekly calls The Sweet Life, "folksy, slyly erotic and immensely entertaining." It goes on sale February 27.

While in Charlottesville, York will also offer advice for reading groups (and prospective blockbuster authors) at "What Makes a Discussible Book?" at Gravity Lounge on March 22.
