UVA gets Albany in first round of NCAA Tourney
Despite losing its last two games, a 20-win regular season was more than enough to secure the UVA men's basketball team a bid in this year's NCAA Tournament. As revealed this evening, the Cavaliers are the #4 seed in the South region and will face the Albany Great Danes in the first round in Columbus, Ohio on Friday. Should they win, the 'Hoos will play the winner of the game between Tennessee and Long Beach.
Could this year's Wahoos rank with the best UVA teams of all time? Legendary UVA coach Terry Holland and "voice of the Cavaliers" Mac McDonald give their takes in this week's Hook.
The 'Hoos are one of seven ACC teams to make it into this year's tournament along with North Carolina (today's ACC Tournament champs), Maryland, Boston College, Virginia Tech, Duke, and Georgia Tech.
Three other teams from the Commonwealth will join the Cavs in the Big Dance. Virginia Tech's impressive season was enough to earn a #5 seed in the West region, VCU won the #11 seed (and a first round matchup with Duke) in the West, and Old Dominion got the #12 seed in the Midwest.
