UVA’s Elzinga helped Court in retail case
UVA's famed free-market economist Kenneth Elzinga provided intellectual support for the controversial notion of enforcing minimum retail prices, UVA says in a release. The Supreme Court ruled 5-4 last month in Leegin Creative Leather Products, Inc. v. PSKS, Inc. that such pricing schemes, formerly treated automatically as illegal under the Sherman Antitrust Act, may offer benefits to consumers.
