Woodard wants Williams’ units, City loan

The Daily Progress reports this morning that Eugene Williams' low-income housing units, put on the block earlier this year, could be sold to developer Keith Woodard– if Woodard gets an $850,000 loan from Charlottesville citizens. Williams, age 79, told the Hook in an April cover story that he'd accomplished his mission of dignified, scattered housing for the poor. Woodard, who has extensive University-area land-holdings, raised eyebrows last year when he announced he'd build a 9-story building downtown with an automated parking garage.
