Yet another bridge hit, closed
In the latest chapter of Charlottesville's seemingly serial slew of strange structure smashups, Albemarle County police announced August 7 that yet another bridge will have to be closed after it sustained damage from a train passing beneath it. Police say the bridge at Broomley and Old Ballard roads will be closed for approximately two days and advise motorists to steer clear. Bridges at Locust Avenue, Park Street and Route 601 have all been struck by vehicles in the past, mostly by trucks, and Locust has been hit multiple times.
6:30pm update question: Could this have been hit by the tilted coal car?
