Bond makes ‘Most Influential Liberals’ list

This week, the London Daily Telegraph publishes its lists of the "100 Most Influential" American liberals and conservatives, and although the paper has revealed only 100 through 61 (editors are counting up to #1), Charlottesville has already made an appearance. UVA history professor and NAACP chair Julian Bond comes in at #83 among the lefties, ahead of such heavy hitters as billionaire showbiz mogul David Geffen (#90), fellow civil rights activist Al Sharpton (#88), Sen. Ted Kennedy (D-MA, #85), and even former Vermont governor and current Democratic National Committee chair Howard Dean (#84). Still, the former Saturday Night Live host doesn't quite have the star power to overtake actor George Clooney (#82) and Daily Show host Jon Stewart (#81).
