Chris Long has NFL scouts salivating

Though the NFL Draft is more than three months away, teams for whom the playoffs are out of reach are already looking ahead to next season, and the chance of UVA defensive end Chris Long trading in his orange and blue for their team's colors. ESPN draft guru Mel Kiper Jr. currently ranks the fourth-year student as the third-best pro prospect in the nation. Experts say Long should be among the first five players drafted, which, if current winning and losing trends hold, would mean he would end up with either the Miami Dolphins, New England Patriots, St. Louis Rams, Atlanta Falcons, or New York Jets.

Huge difference between the Dolphins and New England.

Not exactly news, is it? Long has been classified as a top-5 pick for more than a year. His senior season may have made him the #1 pick, especially now that everybody in the NFL realizes that the Houston Texans were right to take NC State Defensive End Mario Williams ahead of superstars Vince Young and Reggie Bush. Quarterbacks and running backs can be had late, but dominating defensive ends don't come around every day.
