Allman Brothers’ Betts added to Kid Rock bill

Legendary former Allman Brothers Band guitarist Dickey Betts will join Run DMC's Reverend Run as an opening act at Kid Rock's March 12 show at John Paul Jones Arena, according to concert industry trade publication Pollstar. Betts will be backed by his band Great Southern. During his time in the Allman Brothers Band, he wrote some of the band's biggest hits, such as "Ramblin' Man," "Jessica," and "Blue Sky." He parted ways with the band in 2000 after nearly 40 years, with a statement released by the remaining members citing "creative differences."

How the mighty have fallen - opening a show with two rappers! A very odd lineup, for sure. And the Brothers don't miss Betts much at all, not with Warren Haynes and Derek Trucks in the band.
