College shooting movie due out in April

Its release delayed by the April 16, 2007 shootings at Virginia Tech, Dark Matter– a movie about a disturbed student who kills his classmates by shooting them in their classroom– will see limited release this April. It stars Meryl Streep as a wealthy university benefactor who takes a young Chinese graduate student under her wing. "Obviously [the Virginia Tech shooting] was a long time ago," First Independent Pictures president Gary Rubin tells the Associated Press. "We're not even focusing on that aspect of it at this point. It's a good movie, and we feel it should get out there." IMDB.com reports the movie is due out in limited release on April 11, five days before the one-year anniversary of the Tech massacre and about two months after yesterday's campus bloodbath.

Rubin States "Obviously (the VA Tech shooting) was a long time ago" yet it has not even been one year? I can't say this is a movie I would be interested in seeing everyone has different tastes although I definitely think that the release date is in bad taste and was purposely set to draw more attention to the movie and ultimately more ticket sales which I would not consider necessary if this were truly a "good" movie. Maybe it would do better if they put it out five days before Christmas.

This makes me absolutely furious. This is so far beyond common decency that it boggles the mind. I cannot think of any way to express my contempt for Gary Rubin's idiotic comment. He is a clueless imbecile.
