Sen. Warner in the hospital

Sen. John Warner (R-VA) has been hospitalized in Fairfax to monitor an irregular heartbeat. The Associated Press reports that Warner had suffered an atrial fibrillation last fall, and while the 81-year-old statesman's pulse had recently returned to normal, a spokesperson says that the condition had returned and Warner went in for "a scheduled admission" today. Warner announced last August at the steps of UVA's Rotunda that he plans to retire at the end of his current Senate term in January 2009.
