Police investigate shooting at Fairway and Caroline

4:39pm: Police have procured a large silver revolver with a wooden handle from a mulch pile at 433 Fairway Ave. Also, police have now confirmed that there were three passengers in the white minivan. Two African-American males were shot. The third passenger was a woman who injured her ankle, most likely in the crash.

Charlottesville police are investigating a shooting that took place this afternoon at the corner of Fairway Avenue and Caroline Avenue near Meade Park. According to eyewitness accounts, a white minivan mowed down a chain-link fence on the Fairway side, after a red car pulled up alongside the minivan and its passengers began to shoot into the vehicle. At least a dozen police officers as well as several forensics teams are presently on the scene.Police have not released any information about the identity or the medical status of the victims.
