Fairway shooting details revealed
Although a witness to the crime believed a gun was fired from a second car he saw careering down Fairway Avenue, Charlottesville police now say that last Tuesday's shooting on Fairway occurred within the white minivan following the passengers' second robbery of the day. Another new detail: two of the victims injured in the incident were also alleged culprits.
On Saturday, April 12, four days after he was shot, 29-year-old Shawn Anthony Luck died at UVA Medical Center of his wounds. The following day, Charlottesville police arrested three suspects– 28-year-old Curtis Tyrell Montague of Richmond (top left), 27-year-old Jada Marie Dubrose Dickerson (right), and 22-year-old Candace Marie Williams (bottom left). Montague and Williams, who lives in Charlottesville, were arrested at Montague's home in Henrico County; Dickerson was arrested in Charlottesville.
According to Charlottesville Police Sgt. Mark Brake, Montague and Dickerson were the two victims treated and released at UVA hospital on Tuesday– Montague for a minor gunshot wound, Dickerson for an injured foot. Brake says police had not compiled enough evidence at that point to make any arrests. All of the suspects have been charged with first-degree murder, use of a firearm in the commission of a murder, robbery, and use of a firearm in the commission of a robbery. As for who pulled the trigger, there may be one clue: Montague faces one additional charge of possessing a firearm as a felon.
Charlottesville Police plucked the gun they say was used– a chrome revolver with a wooden handle– from a mulch pile outside a house less than 200 yards from where the white minivan crashed into a fence.
Brake says Luck was not involved in the crime, and declines to comment further on Luck's location in the vehicle. Brake also says the other car spotted by the witness has been identified and excluded as the source of the gunfire.
The shooting was not the trio's only crime of the day. Earlier Tuesday, Montague, Williams, and Dickerson allegedly committed an armed robbery and abduction in the 700 block of Ridge Street near Lankford Avenue, says Brake, for which they face additional charges. That incident, Brake says, was unrelated to the later shooting.
Montague and Williams have a bond hearing in Charlottesville District Court tomorrow at 9am; Dickerson's District Court appearance is scheduled for May 1 at 1pm.

Ironic that the cover stories are about the false confessions and martin luther king are the lastest cover stories.
I hope the police were nice and polite and didn't use any harsh words to interogsate these people.
You can tell by the smile on cutis's mugshot that he is just another innocent victim of white supremacy and arcane laws that forbid killing.
"careering down Fairway Avenue"
Opens a "whole new field"
For a minute I thought I was reading the Progress.
Maybe you should read the dictionary, Cornelius.
Yes, maybe I should.
Careening.
You could use some quality time with ole Webster yourself, Joe.
BT Justice, I do hope the police were professional and that they did follow the law so violent criminals don't get off on a Constitutional rights violation. There's no need for them to be dishonorable or become criminal to do professional law enforcement. It doesn't have anything to do with manners.... it is the law.
career vi: to go at top speed esp. in a headlong manner.
Looks like everybody is bored today.

That's not a mugshot, so to speak. It's a DMV picture that somebody (the police?) has pulled up and used for some reason. Possibly for identification purposes, as in, "is this the person who shot you?"
Was he suppose to look concerned while posing for the camera at DMV? Last time I had my picture taken at DMV the girl told me to smile.

I agree with you 100%. But there a few loose cannons still out there that have no idea why YOU would subscribe to or believe what you have just said. And while I firmly believe the local police chiefs know exactly who these loose cannons are, they do nothing to correct the situation.

Don't worry! I shall wake everybody up! :)
Blow it out your ass Sick. Sounds like the popo did a good job

Who said they didn't?
I don't care if the picture was taken at chucky cheese... if they are found guilty of murder in broad daylight I hope they DIE.

Well, you should care where the picture was taken. I think it's pretty disgusting to use a DMV photo (where a person is encvouraged to smile) and pass it off to the public as an official mug shot at the time of the arrest in any type of press release. It misleads people into thinking the suspect has a smirk on his face while being arrested and booked. As you can see above, it certainly mislead Buford T Justice into thinking this.
Using the DMV photo is not nearly as disgusting as rambo hater siding with criminals over cops because he got screwed on bad deal.
when the cops slammed people on the streets for telling him to slow the f down I was against the cops
When they catapulted mr mitchell out of the wheelchair and gave HIM a ticket I was against the cops.
When they catch these losers that quick and there is not an immediate call of a set up etc from a defense attorney and it all looks to be by the book I praise them.
I don't wear blinders
Well criminal hater, if you are ever arrested for anything, maybe they will use your DMV photo and try to pass it off as a mugshot too. And if your DMV photo contains a smile people will think you too are smirking about the crime while being processed and booked.
By the way, I haven't sided with anybody here. What makes you think I have sided with the criminals? Reading comprehension problems perhaps???
Sicko.. you may not have "sided" as you say but you are all over these things busting on the police. It's your right but at some point you just look pathetic.
As far as my mug shot goes if I shoot and kill somebody my picture in the paper would probably be the least of my problems..
quotes of criminal hater: "Using the DMV photo is not nearly as disgusting as rambo hater siding with criminals ..."
"Sicko.. you may not have ¢Ã¢â??¬Ã?â??sided¢Ã¢â??¬ as you say..."
You're the one who introduced the words "siding with criminals" into this discussion.
You're still missing the point here. Was the DMV photo showing the suspect with a smile on his face released to the media with some type of prejudicial intent in mind? Ya know, a smirk while being arrested and processed. A don't give a damn attitude. Showing no remorse for the murder he just committed. What's wrong with the real mugshot of the suspect being released? There was no problem in releasing authenic mugshots of the two females involved.
The intentional improper use of DMV photos is a very sore subject with me. It wouldn't be a big deal if this was the only case in recent history where a DMV photo has been improperly used with a preconceived and/or specific results in mind.
sicko how do you know that the hook didn't get the picture from another source?
Innocent until proven guilty only matters in court.. in the court of public opinion all TRUTHFUL evidence can be displayed... (for example your many diatribes on here regarding the wheelchair incident)
Newpapers have freedom of the press to report with whatever slant they choose.. it is up to the individual to decide what paper he wishes to rely on for his news.
sicko how do you know that the hook didn't get the picture from another source?
Because in the April 17, 2008 story entitled "Mayhem on Fairway: Details emerge in city shooting", the Hook very clearly lists their source as the Charlottesville Police Department.

"Newpapers have freedom of the press to report with whatever slant they choose.. it is up to the individual to decide what paper he wishes to rely on for his news."
I'm sure The Hook had no intention of misleading anybody. They might not have even realized it is a DMV photo.
