This womans courage and strength is humbling. I truly hope that someday she can fully recover from this horrific experience.

Liz is right. It becomes a part of you -- it defines you, and it NEVER goes away. I feel her pain. It appears U.Va. didn't care then and, I think, they probably don't care now. Some things never change. It's good that Liz has spoken out. So very brave! Hope she stays strong.

Although I do not call rape a youthful indiscression, I do believe that Mr Beebee's recollection of that evening is more believable then Ms Seccura. I find her to be malicious, vindictive, and a liar. She says she has a kind and forgiving heart but that is clearly not the case. She immediately upon receiving that letter, set out to extract revenge. She had a good life and got on with her life. She jumped at the opportunity for revenge. A previous poster stated that Ms Seccura is responsible for her own healing, not only that, she also bears personal responsibility for what happened that night. She was neligent in taking a drink that she did not see prepared and knew not what the contents where. She allowed herself to be separated from her friend rather then keeping herself safe at all times. Yes, she too has a role in the events of that evening. She is so busy playing the poor me, I never got over it card, that she fails to look at her own role in the matter and how she put herself in that position. What vengence will she demand of herself? PS If you watched the Dateline special and read the articles online about this case you would know that Liz did not contact the police because she was frightend or afraid. She did it for vengence pure and simple, it is what it is and she should be as brave as he was and stand up and call it what it is.

Liz Securro says she has forgiven - obviously a lie. She would not be looking for revenge if that were true. She went to a frat party (her first stupid choice), drank 1 1/2 beers, which would have had an effect on her if she were, as she says, very inexperienced. Any young woman knows that you do not go upstairs in a frat house with strange men. Then she accepted a drink when she didn't know what was in it, and drank that as well. This is not the behavior of a girl who wants to keep herself safe and out of trouble. What happened next was as much her fault, as his...any guy would get the wrong idea from a woman who has acted as she had.

TO BAY AND SPLAT A RAPE DEFINES YOU? I WAS ALSO RAPED, , STRANGER RAPE, MAN OF THE OPPISITE RACE BROKE INTO MY HOME IN THE MIDDLE OF THE NIGHT WITH A BUTCHER KNIFE, JERKED ME FROM MY BED AND TERRIRIZED ME FOR 3 HOURS. SISTER THIS DOES NOT DEFINE ME, YOUR FRAME OF REFERENCE IS MESSED UP GO AND WORK IN A PEDIATRIC CANCER WARD OR A NURSING HOME. THERE ARE BAD THINGS THAT HAPPEN TO PEOPLE ALL THE TIME, BUT THIS IS NOT THE WORSE, NOT THE BEST. BUT DEFINE YOU COME ON, DONT LET THE RAPIST CONTROL ONE MORE MINUTE OF YOUR LIFE. JESUS, GIRLS GET A GRIP, GET THERAPY AND MOVE ON, AND LIZ WOW I HOPE YOU ARE NOT JUDGED BY THE SAME MEASURING STICK AS YOU JUDGE OTHERS. YOU CAN HEAL YOU SELF WHEN YOU CAN LEARN TO FORGIVE, RAPE IS ABOUT CONTROL IT IS NOT ABOUT WHO YOU ARE AS A PERSON. GET TOUGH GIRLS TAKE RESPONSIBILITY FOR YOUR OWN ACTIONS PROTECT YOURSELFS

You people are sick. No means no whether or not a person has a drink they don't see made or not. Where the heck are you ladies from. I mean come on already.... I would want revenge like nobody's business too. You go Liz Securro. Just looking at his mug shot tells me he's a scary creep!

To what ends of justice should our governments align? Here we have a lady who alleges she was raped many years ago. I think if this were true she would have not given up on the idea of justice so quickly as she had done. It is only now when she feels she has more evidence that she is seeking justice. One does not stop seeking justice simply because the hurdles are too large. Now the government will spend oodles of dollars to support Liz's revenge.

Most of the feminazies will say that rape is a womens issue. I disagree. Rape is a tool in the arsenal of a woman that she can wield against a man who she feels has wronged here. Most of these claims carry very real consequences for men, so it is indeed a mens issue as well.

You see I was once falsely accused of rape. My accuser needed a way to throw suspicion off of her over aged boy friend for her pregnancy. I was a convenient scape goat at the time because I was poor and could not afford good counsel and I was young. It must have been something in my voice that cried to a good lawyer that was in the courtroom during one of the many proceedings that followed. He took my case pro bono and succeeded in getting the scumbag to admit she was lying on me. You see nothing happened to her. The DA just let her walk.

This is what makes men hate. And oh yes I do hate most all women because of this.

If the laws need to be changed it should be more to protect the accused rights, because what is worse, that a guilty man go free or an innocent man goes to prison for rape?

I think the scumbucket that lied on me should have to do the 30 years I would have had to do.

I think Liz doesn't really remember what happened. Possibly the alcohol/drug made her behave in a way she normally would not have. In the morning it was all too much for her to admit to herself so she remembered it as a rape.

Congratulations to Liz on not being ashamed like most people are. This is not something that she did, but something which the criminal, the rapist William BEEBE and a group of evil humans did. Clearly he knows how evil his choice was and he couldn't live with himself. Good. And all the others are probably being eaten alive for guilt. Good. Karma's a b*tch.

If she was passed out how bad could it have been? I was in a car wreck and had my best friend die in my arms as we were waiting for the rescue squad. It was tough but I have managed to go on with my life. I have not forgiven the drunk driver but i don't need to seem him hung either.

This is difficult to ponder. On the one hand, Liz DID put herself in an unsafe situation. My daughter has been taught to always be aware of her surroundings, never drink anything she didn't make herself or knows well the person who made it, and to never be anywhere or with anyone where she can not be in control of her own well-being. I know things were different 20 years ago. I know Liz states she was very inexperienced and, therefore, naive. Her parents, likewise, were inexperience and naive. I'm sure knowing what they now know, she would have been taught differently and possibly there would have been a different outcome - possibly not, given there are no guarantees in life and we, as parents, know all too well sometimes our best doesn't prevent disaster in our children's lives. I do believe that this drunk and thoughtless man comitted a crime. It has to be made clear, to all men, sex that isn't agree to is a crime. Period. Whether the person is passed out, on drugs, or otherwise incapacitated doesn't change that fact. If, like Liz, the person puts him/herself in an unsafe situation and a crime is commited against them, they will pay for it by living with it for a long time. The crime against them will be their reminder of the mistake they made. The perpetrator, on the other hand, must be held accountable by a court of law.

While I have genuine sympathy for any rape victim, I couldn't stomach the whole "woe is me, I've STILL got the hardest life in the world" flavor of her interview on that TV special. She had that story so well rehearsed that I absolutely could not find it 100% credible. Get the heck over it, and stop claiming that something which happened over 20 years ago has kept you from living your life. She was destined to not be a winner, and uses this rape as an excuse for why she has never achieved happiness. Believe me, sister, there's a LOT of WORSE things that have happened to many, many people who didn't let it keep them down or hold them back.

Elisha, is it Elisha Strom perhaps? Why does it matter than your rapist was "of the opposite race"? You were pretty quick to insert that irrelevant detail.

Interesting choice of words--"opposite." There is no opposite race--there are many different races. You sound hung up on black v. white.

RAPED lul

To all you going on about this woman being "malicious" and out for "revenge": Please shut up before you make an even bigger fool of yourselves. This isn't revenge, it's justice.

Mr. Bebe did something wrong, and thus must be punished for it. It's as simple as that.
