The platinum rating, if awarded, is given by the US Green Building Council, under their LEED system. The article incorrectly states that the issuing group is Leadership in Energy and Environmental Design. LEED is the USGBC's rating system, not the rating body itself.

"Green building"...."environmental development"...DoubleThink:...The power of holding two contradictory beliefs in one's mind simultaneously, and accepting both of them. ... To tell deliberate lies while genuinely believing in them, to forget any fact that has become inconvenient, and then, when it becomes necessary again, to draw it back from oblivion for just so long as it is needed, to deny the existence of objective reality and all the while to take account of the reality which one denies—all this is indispensably necessary

I'm glad to see more "green development" being proposed in the county; however, there does seem to be a trend of proposing a green design in order to get forgiveness on other short-sighted aspects of the development (see the River Bluff development for another example). In my book, to be a truely green development one should take into account the entire context and footprint of the design. For example, perhaps they should have given some thought to the historical character of the neighborhood, and -gasp- actually consult neighbors for their opinions.

Bundoran has taken time to consider these things, and it shows. Why can't other developments get it?
