Bid on a week in Paris at VABC's annual ââ?¬Å?Raucous Auctionââ?¬Â

The Virginia Arts of the Book Center (VABC) will hold its 4th annual auction on Friday, November 14 at 5:30-8:30pm at its location on 977 Second Street SE (in the Ix Complex). The fundraiser will feature for auction and sale artists’ books, letterpress broadsides, etchings, cards, paper, framed art, signed first edition books, artist’s books, and will culminate with bidding on “F.”–a limited edition, hardbound, collaborative book project created by VABC members on the legacy of Mary Shelley’s Frankenstein.

Among the other donations being auctioned are a week-long stay in an apartment in Paris, a Gift Pack from Creative Framing/The Art Box, and a place in a UVa Rare Book School class. There will be a “noisy” auction at 6pm, another at 7pm, followed by the closing of the silent auction around 7:45pm. Art works will be on display that evening or can be previewed on the website.

The VABC, a program of the Virginia Foundation for the Humanities, promotes the values of the humanities through appreciation of the arts of the book, visual and verbal literacy, creativity, and the fostering of traditional and contemporary skills.

Wine and refreshments. Admission is free though a $5 donation is suggested.

That thing doesn't look big enough or clean enough to put my motorcycle in. Why would anybody buy something for that rediculous amount when the building looks like it is about to collapse in the photo.
