Perriello attends freshman orientation

Though the election results have yet to be finalized and a recount appears imminent, that didn't stop Tom Perriello (D-Ivy) from attending freshman orientation for newly-elected members of the U.S. House of Representatives this weekend. The highlight of Perriello's trip? "We got the official congressional Blackberry," he tells Roanoke's WSLS.

Oh boy - how long before we get the pronouncements of Perriello being presumptuous and disrespectful of the vote counting process, putting the cart in front of the horse, yadda yadda yadda.

But the bigger question is why are the election results not yet finalized, and why hasn't the recount started or even been completed?

You know what kills me? Alaska. A population of fewer than 700,000 and there are still about 45,000 ballots to be counted. Not REcounted, just counted for the first time. It's been two weeks! Yes, Alaska is a huge state, and there are parts inaccessible, but those areas have, you know, phones and stuff. The had 90,000 absentee ballots. Do they have one guy counting them? No excuses.

Maybe they're just busy keeping their eyes on Russia.

Dear Music Lover,

I can't speak to the Alaska recount, but here in Virginia the recount can't begin until the State Board of Elections certifies the results a week from today on Monday, November 24.

Thanks for reading.
