Monticello for $200, Alex
Thomas Jefferson's Monticello will be a category on the December 17 episode of Jeopardy!, say Monticello officials. The category will have five video clues about Jefferson and Monticello and a brief "Spotlight" segment, which were filmed at Monticello earlier this year by the show's Clue Crew.
In case you didn't know, local resident, Julann Griffin, former wife of Merv and co-founder of the locally-founded online gaming company Boxerjam, which miraculously survived the dot.bomb era and had its offices in the Hook building (the company relocated to Texas, but their sign still faces the Mall), came up with the idea for Jeopardy! 25 years ago.
"We were on a plane from my hometown of Ironwood, Michigan back to New York, and Merv was writing on a pad of paper and said he was trying to come up with a new game show," Griffin told the Hook in 2007.
A 1959 Congressional investigation had blown the lid off the scandal that had made the public and FCC reluctant to trust another knowledge-based game show: a show called Twenty One was supplying its most telegenic contestants with the correct answers.
"So I said, 'Just give all the contestants the answers,'" recalled Griffin.
Also, since Annette Gordon-Reed's book, The Hemingses of Monticello, won the National Book Award this year, might we see some answers involving Sally Hemings?
I guess we'll have to watch. The episode airs locally on NBC-29 at 7:30pm

Wow, that is a very detailed article, good work! I'm glad this guy has been caught.
If he could only have got away with it for another ten years, become an alcoholic, entered a twelve-step program, and then e-mailed one of his victims with an apology for raping her. Then he could expect to be out of jail in a few months. I'm curious to see how this plays out, especially in comparison to other widely-publicized rape cases.
10 years to identify and capture a serial rapist (If they have the right guy). I'm not impressed at all.
It is time to expand the death penalty to include crimes of this nature.
Don't worry, he'll be back among us before you know it and maybe even registering as an SO. If he had lived a life of guilt, as the recently released fraternity rapist appearently did, perhaps he would have written not just one letter of apology but seven (or more). Yes, just one rape is awful but how can you compare the continuing apetite of an unrepentant serial rapist to the drunken sick demonic lust of a UVa frat boy! Money is how. Perhaps the serial rapist lusted for violent sex because of a hundred year old unpaid reparation to him and his family which would have paid his way through UVa. Duh!
Maybe he can share a cell with michael vick...and we could give him time off for raping vick every week or so...
to eggamuffin , john l and john G. you dont know what the heck(no i did not mean heck) you are talking about. You send in your little cheep shot comments about things you know nothing about. God will have mercy on his soul but i am not sure about yours. keep you useless comments to yourself, there are others affected by this other than the victims..as for the hook way to rub crap in the face of the family.
The man deserves everything he gets. I hope he has the same acts committed against him in prison....before the state paroles him way too early.
What if the serial rapist is really a police officer?
Those descriptions ar worthless. THat describes every other black man in the world.

The crime is heinous and hopefully the guilty get brought to justice. But I also feel the concern for swabbing a bunch of people just for being generally black. For every person swabbed for being black, one non-black person should be swabbed just as a standard so that the black community which has a history of being slandered knows that we will take any indignity we force upon them as well.
If you don't think being swabbed as a potential subject is an indignity, I need to see everyone lining up to be swabbed. I don't know if I want a government database with everyone's genetic code summed up but I'd prefer that to a database that only has African American suspects.
