Senate committee kills booze store privatization
A proposal to end Virginia's monopoly on liquor sales and move, as its sponsor put it, "into the post-Prohibition era,” has died in a General Assembly committee, according to media reports. The move was proposed by a Harrisonburg-area state senator Mark Obenshain, but was passed over indefinitely in a January 30 voice vote.
