Virginia Quarterly Review, the award-winning lit mag HQ'd on the UVA Lawn, has uncorked nearly 30 years' worth of archives, including a 1983 look at the democratizing aspects of computers and an early Larry Sabato travelogue.

Amazing -- What a high quality operation. One of the best efforts going on at the University.
Hmm, didn't this happen a while back? I could swear the VQR archives have been online for at least a couple years--or did the pub. just complete the task?
Oh, I just went to the site and realized why I was confused: the archives previously were only available to subscribers. What a great move to make them public!
It's our new business model:
1. Give away articles.
2. ???
3. Profit!
We're working on step 2.
I couldn't have said it better. Sometimes NBA Basketball seems choreographed like wrestling.
people who play basketball and have an understanding of the game realize the amount of athleticism involved in the NBA and are interested in watching. You admit you don't enjoy or really watch the sport except for when everyone watches it for 3 weeks in March. These are top notch athletes with abilities that really can't be matched. I disagree with your premise and recommend you go play some ball in the nice weather, maybe you'll learn something when you step out of the lane and get dunked on.
I know plenty of people that are excited about the upcoming playoffs including myself. I cant understand why anyone would think that this season wasnt awesome. Would you rather watch juiced jerks in MLB? Or the totally compelling NHL playoffs where most Americans cant name ONE NHL player
Oh nevermind, i see this article was written by a WOMAN on some unknown site from VIRGINIA of all places.
As you were
Man, you don't know what your talking about. Nothing you said is true and you don't seem like you like any sport at all.
This WOMAN is right. Once basketball was really something to see: a real team sport, but it's turned into one big dunking contest. Maybe the Doctor doesn't watch the NBA because it's always the same old thing.
I happen to be friends with the Doc and know for a fact her NCAA bracket beat the pants off most of the guys I know. She's no stranger to basketball, nor to hockey either. I've watched games with her myself.
I can't wait for the playoffs - I love a hot dunk! But c'mon baby, when was the last time you saw a real passing game in the NBA? I think I was about six. Don't hate her cuz she's right!
She's right. I would rather watch reruns of House and read her column (which is what I did last night) than watch a playoff game. She knows her stuff.
All you have to look at is the box score of an NBA All-Star game to see that defense isn't a priority. I guy goes 6 for 30 on the night and still gets 20+ points--pretty lame. The best thing they ever did lately was ban the obnoxious tights everyone was wearing.
