911 bus rolls westward

At about 8:20am Tuesday February 10, a CTS bus crossing the Ridge-McIntire interesection along West Main Street, in place of its usual route numbers and destinations, blared out warning signals: "Emergency" and "Call 911" on its front and "Call cops" on its back. Although the driver didn't appear to be held at gunpoint, we did as instructed. "Generally, those are false alarms," said the 911 operator, "but we'll go ahead and call it in."

the 911 system call center in this town needs major overhaul. whether you call 911 or "communications" (the non-emergency number 977.9041) so as not to tie up 911, there are problems. if the people in charge of the call center solicited customer feedback many of the issues could certainly be corrected.

It should be working. The millions have been spent in the last ten years to supposedly make it top notch.
