VDOT official: Bypass still dead
Bad news for Lynchburg and Danville truckers (and folks dreaming of a cross-Albemarle pipeline), as Charlie Rasnick, VDOT's manager of a $1.5 million Route 29 study says, according to Charlottesville Tomorrow: “The bypass would not function today as it was envisioned when it was first planned back in the 1970s. We don’t anticipate building that bypass.

Umm no Bypass--Guess that dam dependent pipeline slated to follow the ByPass route from South Fork to Ragged Mt. will cost a whole lot more than the Gannett Fleming $57 million estimate--maybe the $223 that they estimated for dredging the reservoir was really the estimate for the new water supply pipeline.

The pipeline is not dependant on the Bypass route. That's been refuted by officials many times. Amazing how much misinformation is spread like this....
That doesn't mean they don't want to build A BYPASS. It just means they want to change the previous plans.
Poodle, the pipeline that the new Ragged Mt. Dam is dependent on was slated to go in the ByPass route. I didn't say it couldn't be built. I just said no on knows what it will cost or where it will go.
It could cost 100 or 200 million dollars no one knows until there is a defined route. Do you know what it will cost ?

That's just the point would you build a house if you had no idea what it would cost ? Right now the proposal for our water supply has no cost estimates. It could be $200, $300, $400 million no one knows.
Don't you agree you can't call something a plan unless you know what it will cost ?

Hellooooo...in case you haven't heard, the already adopted water supply plan is the LEAST expensive option for providing ENOUGH water for the region's future. Wow this debate is getting pretty stale.
In terms of what this article is about....Mr. VDOT is correct, the 29 Bypass is a dinosaur.
Ain't no plan baby. Plenty you could have read by now would have told you that, and you say the debate is getting stale? Might not be so stale if you'd take the time to find out what's up.
What's getting stale are politicos and their friends trying to say that something is the least expensive when they have no idea what is the cost.

If you know what the estimated price tag is for this entire project, please enlighten the public, otherwise, buy you friends a beer and offer them some free baby-sitting services to show your devotion.
I always found it hysterically amusing that "Virginia is for Lovers" but cohabitation is illegal in the commonwealth. In addition I have never received a satisfactory answer to the age old question "why is 'David' art and 'Miss September' vulgar?" If man was made in the likeness and image of God and everyone comes into the world naked (although I'm sure there will be a statute against that soon) why is being naked a bad thing? That's the way God made me. LOL! So please... get a life... grow up... gimme a break already.
What I find so incredible, from a European perspective, is that so many people can make so much political capital out of confusing nudity with pornography. The research evidence is absolutely crystal clear. Prudery is harmful to children. If you don't believe me, try comparing teenage pregnancy rates or age at first intercourse for the USA with countries such as Denmark or The Netherlands. There are many European countries where there is no prohibition of nudity at all.
It sounds like the law in Virginia is based on nothing but prejudice. It may be a popular prejudice but then so was racial prejudice at one time.
Sex outside marriage is counterfeit. It is the opposite of love. It is self-gratification and the using of your self and others in a de-humanizing way.
The first thing sex does, sex outside marriage--- real marriage as God intended it--- including sex with other humans in any number or "gender" or even with yourself, is to numb not only your sense of right and wrong, but even your intellect and ability to appreciate objective beauty and truth.
To rut like lower animals is to give away what is not yours to give away--- your very humanity.
All such sickening displays of naked flesh and sex acts are thus inhuman.

To be fair,its not just Staunton. Believe it or not,"enlightened" Charlottesville had a couple porn busts of its own in years past,Dixie News in the 70s, the Pleasure Chest in the 80s.
But Virginia Beach area-unreal! Some years back a young woman was arrested and fined for wearing a thong bikini at the beach,so the Abercrombie and Fitch flap is no surprise.
Virginia may be no better or worse than other states about issues like abortion, Gay marriage etc, but we sure seem to have a lot of legislators and prosecutors fixated on sex!

If you were real Christians, you would actually follow ALL that the Bible has to say. But, then again you wouldn't do that.
