UVA pays $48K for Poe's 'juleps' letter?

An article in the Daily Progress suggests that UVA's special collections library plunked down nearly $48,000 for a letter from a defensive Edgar Allan Poe who blamed an incident of his drunken behavior on poet William Ross Wallace who, Poe wrote, "would insist upon the juleps."


I'd be willing to bet that Mr. Madison was a FREEMASON.
