Festival author's son killed
The 16-year-old son of Outer Banks activist/author Jan DeBlieu–- Thomas Reid Smith DeBlieu–- died after a two-vehicle collision in Nags Head March 16. The author of Wind and Hatteras Journal had been scheduled to attend the Virginia Festival of the Book March 21 in an event sponsored by Southern Environmental Law Center.
