Charlottesville and Albemarle County kids ages 6 to 18 get a free ride all summer through a special program offered by CTS. When parents return a signed permission form, the local public transportation service will make photo IDs allowing young folks to ride the CTS system free from June 9 through August 24, 2009. Representatives from CTS will visit City of Charlottesville Schools during April (check with your child’s school for exact date and time) to take photos. Residents of Albemarle County and those whose child misses the photo shoot day can make an appointment to have the child's picture taken for free. Individual appointments will be available from May 10 through June 5, 2009.

In addition to the CTS Summer 2009 Youth Ride Free program, Charlottesville Transit Service will offer a Year-Round Ride FREE Program to Charlottesville High School.  The program will allow CHS students to ride CTS fare-Free from June 9, 2009 through June 10, 2010 with a separate photo ID.
