Sutherland Farm owners cancel demo

Preservationists rejoice! After reading the Hook's recent article on Sutherland Farm, it appears the owners have decided not to demo the three historic structures on the property. "I have talked with the owners and they have decided not to take down the house or the two standing barns," says realtor Jim Faulconer, the listing agent for the 450-plus acre property, which is currently on the market for $6.4 million. " I will continue to market the property for sale, and hopefully the new owners will be able to preserve and make use of the existing structures."

SAD that Albemarle CO. doesn't have zoning, historical regulations to prevent such problems from occuring in the first place??

Thank you so much.
I didn't think you would listen, and you did hear us and you also responded. God bless! We will remember this!

To the owners of Sutherland Farm:

Thank you, thank you, THANK YOU!!! Many of us greatly appreciate your doing the right thing by giving those buildings a chance. They've made it this far, and it's heartening to know they may live on as an example of the pride and craftsmanship people used to take in their built environment. Stewardship is alive after all!

This is really fantastic news...

Steve:

Most of what you say about "The Ugly Truth" describes pretty accurately what I experienced. I will say, no one attends a rom-com to be surprised, so "trite" in this case is acceptable and not disparaging. I, and my companions and fellow audience members (all 4 viewings) can all be classified among the "easily amused" because both males and females were laughing uproriously during much of this film. There actually were some fresh, modern scenes and I truly enjoyed the chemistry between the characters. Say what you may, Butler's charm came through as well as his comedic chops. The guy's got impressive range as an actor (see "Dear Frankie)and K. Heigl is just a ray of sunshine (I'm not even a Grey's Anatomy fan) with a very promising future in films. OK, this may not be War and Peace but if you attend movies to be entertained, I think this is your pick for lighthearted comedy.
