Pitching ace Kamrath offers clinics
"I'm trying to get the pitching programs off the ground," says former UVA baseball star Jeff Kamrath, who has recently taken up residence at Total Performance, the gym/training facility off Route 29. Kamrath, a 2005 Tampa Bay Devil Rays draft pick, played five seasons in the minors, including a stint with the AA Montgomery Biscuits, before a fluke wrist clot quashed his career this spring. Now, he plans to help youngsters not only pitch but also hit, field, and train. "I try," says Kamrath, "to fit in where I'm needed." Total Performance, formerly located downtown, moved to a 15,000 square-foot facilty in January in the Riverside Center.
